Sustainability Ambitions 2012

Sustainability Ambitions 2012 set targets for reducing carbon dioxide. The objective of the HERACLES GROUP OF COMPANIES is to reduce by 11% the net emissions of carbon dioxide per tone of cement by 2010.

The Sustainability Report 2010 of Heracles Group of Companies, presents our performance and progress made in 2010 as part of our commitment to our stakeholders to provide comprehensive and regular information on how we are addressing sustainability issues.

The report is GRI checked, fulfilling the requirement of Application Level A.

The topics we cover report on our Sustainability Ambitions, which define our sustainability targets and hence address the issues on which we focus most of our attention; address our stakeholders’ views, key concerns and interests, as expressed to us - information on the business context, environmental management at our sites and our actions to help combat climate change, as well as product innovation.

The report focuses on 2010. We present however performance data historically, so the reader can understand the level of progress in 2010. We have avoided repeating information about 2009 except where this is necessary to understand the context of action taken in 2010
Sustainability Report 2009

The 2009 Sustainability Report of the Heracles Group is based on the targets set in respect of sustainable development and sets forth the Group's relevant efforts and performance. It gives a detailed and comprehensive account of the progress made in different fields, including health and safety of its people, the climate change, biodiversity, relations with the local stakeholders etc., providing a complete and updated picture of its activities.
Sustainable Construction

Sustainable construction aims at limiting buildings' environmental impact, improving at the same time quality when it comes to aesthetics, viability, resistance and durability. Sustainable construction techniques can be implemented throughout a building's life, from the selection of initial materials up to its demolition and material recycling.

Sustainable construction involves in particular:
  • Using recyclable materials aiming at preserving natural resources;
  • Integrating renewable energy sources into building designing;
  • Optimising renewable energy sources.
