Sustainability Report 2014


The 2014 Heracles Sustainability Report constitutes the seventh consecutive annual publication and presents our performance and progress made in 2014.This year, our company for the first time, confirming its commitment to work in terms of social and environmental responsibility, issued the Sustainability Report in accordance option Comprehensive as per the GRI G4 Guidelines.

Sustainability Report 2012

The Sustainability Report 2012 presents our performance and progress made in 2012. The topics we cover report on our Sustainability Ambitions and address our stakeholders' views, key concerns and interests, as expressed to us.
 

Heracles Sustainability Report 2012 (for the period 1/1/2012 - 31/12/2012) constitutes the fifth consecutive annual publication of Heracles GCCo. The Sustainability Report is published per annum and covers the Company's operations in Greece, as a whole. The Report does not include data related to subsidiaries abroad, potential joint ventures, partners, suppliers or other third parties.

 

During 2012 no significant changes have been made to the scope, boundaries or methods of evaluation used in the current Report. In cases, where revisions have occurred, specific reference has been made to individual units, tables or diagrams as well as clarification of the reasoning behind revising the respective items. Furthermore, no significant changes have been made to the size, structure or ownership of the Company, which may affect the content of the Report for the year 2012. In cases, where revisions have occurred, special reference is made to separate sections, tables or diagrams.

Reporting methodology

Heracles Sustainability Report for the year 2012 was prepared in accordance with the guidelines on CSR/ Sustainability Reports issued by the international Global Reporting Initiative Organization (GRI - G3.1 Guidelines). The 2012 report covers all necessary disclosures requirements for Level A of GRI international guidelines for the fourth consecutive year.

Sustainability Ambitions 2012

Sustainability Ambitions 2012 set targets for reducing carbon dioxide. The objective of the HERACLES GROUP OF COMPANIES is to reduce by 11% the net emissions of carbon dioxide per tone of cement by 2010.

The Sustainability Report 2011 of Heracles Group of Companies, presents our commitments, performance and progress made in 2011 on how we are addressing our operations at a sustainable way.

This fourth annual sustainability report which is in compliance with the guidelines of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has been checked to fulfil the requirements of Application Level A.

The topics covered in this report were shaped based on our Sustainability Ambitions, and hence address the issues on which we focus our attention; address our stakeholders’ views, key concerns and interests, as expressed by them. The report includes information on our continuous progress, the overall business context, environmental management, our actions to help combat climate change, as well as product innovation towards sustainable construction.

Reporting methodology

We have followed the latest Guidelines produced by the Global Reporting Institute (GRI) in the preparation of this report; the relevant Guidelines for a report on performance in calendar year2011 were GRI 3.1.Compliance with the guidelines has been checked by GRI and found to be A.

Sustainability Report 2010

The Sustainability Report 2010 of Heracles Group of Companies, presents our performance and progress made in 2010 as part of our commitment to our stakeholders to provide comprehensive and regular information on how we are addressing sustainability issues.

The report is GRI checked, fulfilling the requirement of Application Level A.

The topics we cover report on our Sustainability Ambitions, which define our sustainability targets and hence address the issues on which we focus most of our attention; address our stakeholders’ views, key concerns and interests, as expressed to us - information on the business context, environmental management at our sites and our actions to help combat climate change, as well as product innovation.

The report focuses on 2010. We present however performance data historically, so the reader can understand the level of progress in 2010. We have avoided repeating information about 2009 except where this is necessary to understand the context of action taken in 2010
Sustainability Report 2009

The 2009 Sustainability Report of the Heracles Group is based on the targets set in respect of sustainable development and sets forth the Group's relevant efforts and performance. It gives a detailed and comprehensive account of the progress made in different fields, including health and safety of its people, the climate change, biodiversity, relations with the local stakeholders etc., providing a complete and updated picture of its activities.
Sustainable Construction

Sustainable construction aims at limiting buildings' environmental impact, improving at the same time quality when it comes to aesthetics, viability, resistance and durability. Sustainable construction techniques can be implemented throughout a building's life, from the selection of initial materials up to its demolition and material recycling.

Sustainable construction involves in particular:
  • Using recyclable materials aiming at preserving natural resources;
  • Integrating renewable energy sources into building designing;
  • Optimising renewable energy sources.
