Pumice Quarry

Yali

Our pumice stone quarry is located on the island of Yali, north of Nisyros, and we have operated it exclusively since 1952. It is an opencast quarry where material is extracted using the advance method of vertical faces. Our ongoing commitment to excellence and technological innovation in mining ensures the efficient and sustainable extraction of this valuable resource in full compliance with the highest standards of health, safety and environmental protection.

EPD
​The quarry products are certified with CE marking based on EN 13055-1:2002 and EN 13055-2:2004 and have an EPD. To that effect, the quarry is equipped with a workshop conducting quality control of pumice stone as to its grading, moisture and specific weight.

Gypsum Quarry

Altsi

The gypsum mine is located in the Altsi area, Municipality of Sitia, Crete. It is an open-air site, where mining is carried out with the advanced method of exposed vertical faces. At LAVA, we prioritize high quality mining and sustainability, hence our operations and processes fully comply with the highest standards of safety and environmental protection.

The Natural Pozzolana quarry is located at Xylokeratia, west Milos island. It is an area of strategic importance, where mining is carried out using the advanced method of vertical faces.
